Connection Guide
Follow these steps to connect to The Outer Rim.
Step 1: Install Star Wars Galaxies
You need a clean copy of the original Pre-CU Star Wars Galaxies client — version 20050408-18:00. It's a one-time download (about 3 GB). The standard way to get it is the official SWGEmu client setup, which downloads a clean, unpatched SWG install. You do not need an active SWGEmu account to play here — our launcher re-points that base client at The Outer Rim.
Step 2: Download the Launcher
Download our custom launcher that handles file updates and server connection automatically.

Step 3: Register an Account
Create your game account on this website. Your portal login is the same as your in-game login.
Register NowStep 4: Configure the Launcher
- Run the Outer Rim launcher
- Click Browse and select your SWG installation folder
- The server address should already be set correctly
- Click Update Files to download the custom Outer Rim mod files
- Wait for all files to download (about 1.4 GB total on first run)
- Click Play to launch the game!
Step 5: Log In
At the SWG login screen, use the username and password you registered on this website. Create a character and enjoy the galaxy!
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Launcher won't connect | Check that the server is online on the Status page |
| Download stuck or failing | Close and reopen the launcher. Downloads resume where they left off. |
| Game crashes on launch | Run the launcher as Administrator. Make sure your SWG path is correct. |
| Login fails in-game | Make sure you're using your website username/password, not an old SOE account. |
| Multiple instances | Check the "Allow Multiple Instances" box in the launcher before clicking Play. |
